Poems are chosen from the work of Marya Baicheva, translated in the English language. The daily poem is selected for its literary quality and to provide you with a window on a very broad range of poetry offered in the net.
My purpose is to make it easier for people to find poets and poetry they like and to help publishers bring news of their books. I give you a new poem to carry with you through your day and share with others.
Nature
When we return from festal days
at the same time meet
and
pass each other,
suppress erecting longings
today’s delight,
when we stop run
and sand time drain away
between our fingers …When we come from weekdays,
look like soulless shadows
bypass trees bloom
near roads,
when that occurred in the void
known abroad,
the moving planet
into the cold and endless space …Then we again arrive oneself
seek after our essence
but find dry-pursuits,
wrong road,
entirely mistaken notions,
spirit constrained
untimely to neglect
our weaker nature …
…or something like this:
Alles und nichts
Alles ist schon in Worten gesagt ,
gesungen ist der Sang jedes Liedes.
Reibt nur inzwischen die läufende Zeit,
wie Sand in Löcher des großen Siebes.Nichts ist niemals zu wiederholen
im neuen Raum klingt nichts dasselbe,
Straßen verschwinden als gestohlen,
alte Brücken brennen in Flammen gelben.Verstrickt meine Seele Fäden in Wort,
damit mein Geist wiederholt Universum.
Die Unendlichkeit schluckt mich am Ort
dann verengt sich wieder in mich als versum.MARYA BAICHEVA

One of the (many) reasons why I gave up stntiumibg my poems to magazines was that when I did get an acceptance, the choice would be for the poem I’d included as filler rather than for the poem I wanted to see published.Truth is I don’t read my poems the way other people read them. I know what my poems are supposed to be saying whereas the casual browser doesn’t have such luxury. The poems I think are my best are the ones where I’ve worked in 2 or 3 layers of meaning/interpretation which work well for me, but which rarely work for the reader because they only spend enough time with the poem to get the surface meaning (if that). One of my most important poems (for me, anyway) has never been commented on in any detail, despite being posted to various fora and newsgroups. I assume it’s because people are nervous of the content rather than because it’s poorly written or just not likeable.I enjoyed Revelations on erato. I thought it was strange so many commenters are already trying to rank the selected poems. But it’s nice to see poems being selected on their own merits, rather than on the hierarchical importance of the author.Today’s verification: moodz.
